Creating is not simply what I do; it is how I respond to the love I have received.

I am Dominic Ibe Ajike, a Nigerian visual artist working primarily with hyperrealistic charcoal drawings and metal sculpture. My practice explores the depth of human experience through realism, symbolism, and storytelling, inviting you to pause, look closer, and discover meaning beyond what is immediately visible.

For me, art is more than visual expression. It is a language through which I communicate love, explore humanity, reflect on culture, and give form to things words sometimes struggle to express.

My work is rooted in a deep appreciation for life, a biblical understanding of love, and a commitment to excellence. Whether I am working meticulously with charcoal to capture the subtle details of a human face or transforming metal into sculptural forms, I approach each piece with patience, intention, and a desire to create something that resonates beyond its physical presence.

My Journey

My journey as an artist has been one of learning, unlearning, discovery, and becoming.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine and Applied Arts, specializing in Sculpture, from the University of Benin, Nigeria, where I graduated in 2023. Beyond the classroom, my artistic development has been shaped by practical experience, including time spent working and learning in the studio of renowned Nigerian metal sculptor Dotun Popoola.

These experiences have continued to shape how I see materials, approach form, pay attention to detail, and explore the possibilities of artistic expression.

Over time, my work has reached collectors and commission clients across Nigeria and internationally, including the United States, United Kingdom, Russia, Cyprus, and the Netherlands. Each opportunity to create for someone, whether close to home or across borders, reminds me that art has a beautiful way of connecting people beyond geography and language.

Beyond What You See

At the heart of everything I create is a simple conviction: love should be expressed, not merely professed.

I believe we have all received something worth giving, and for me, creating is one of the ways I give. It is my way of pouring out my heart, responding to the love I have received, and offering something meaningful to the world.

This conviction extends beyond my studio. Through LET THEM CREATE, a creative community I founded, I seek to encourage others to recognize, nurture, and express the creative gifts within them. I believe there is something powerful about giving people the courage and opportunity to bring what is within them into the world.

I am learning to embrace excellence not as the pursuit of perfection, but as faithfulness to what has been entrusted to me. This shapes not only how I work, but also how I live, create, and relate with people.

My hope is that when you encounter my work, you see more than technical skill or beautiful detail. I hope you find something that speaks to you, reminds you of your own humanity, stirs something meaningful within you, or simply leaves you in awe of the possibilities of creation.

Ultimately, I want my work to point beyond me — to the beauty of life, the value of humanity, and the God I believe is the Giver of every good gift.
